Year 4
Weekly Update - Friday 5th December 2025
Summary of this week:
We must start by saying how impressed we were with all of our Year 4 children this Tuesday, after a fantastic Christingle Service. The children showed brilliant behaviours, sung their hearts out and represented Eastwick so well. We are very proud of you all! Thank you to the families and carers that were able to make the event to support.
Our learning next week:
Maths: We will be solving multiplication word problems with 3 digit numbers, using mental maths and also the short multiplication method to help us.
English: We will be planning and writing diary entries about a Christmas event! The children will use their imaginations to create a story involving Father Christmas, his reindeer or elves in the workshop and will then retell their account of what happened in the form of a diary entry.
Reading: We will be reading and unpicking a picture book text called “The Christmas Eve Tree”, discussing the themes of kindness, joy, hope and homelessness.
Foundation:
In Geography, we will be learning about the Amazon River and the creatures that live within it!
In Science, we will be setting up an experiment to learn about evaporation, using kettles and water.
In D&T, we will be using glue guns, lolly sticks and a range of resources to build 3D structures for a purpose.
In Computing, we will be using the laptops to set up a survey with a range of different styled questions.
In PE, we will be doing Gymnastics with Mrs Line and Rugby with the PE coaches.
Homework:
Maths
The Maths homework sheet will be stuck into books and given out on Tuesdays – please could children complete this and hand it in by Friday so teachers can mark, provide feedback and hand back by the following week.
Spelling
Please continue to practise the weekly spelling words at home in whichever way your child finds most useful.
