Year 4
Weekly Update - Friday 28th November 2025
Summary of this week:
The children have tackled some tricky mathematical learning this week, learning how to divide large numbers with remainders. In English, we have enjoyed learning our new model text – a diary entry based on The Snowman. In Geography, we learnt about why rainforests are under threat and we thought about the things we can do at home to help protect these areas. In D&T, we planned our 3D structures, thinking about how our frames can be sturdy and strong. We look forward to making these in a few weeks’ time!
Our learning next week:
Maths: We will be exploring multi-step multiplication word problems, and using the short multiplication method to multiply larger numbers.
English: We will be planning and writing our own diary entries, based on “The Snowman”.
Reading: We will be learning about playscripts – exploring and rehearsing a playscript based on Alice In Wonderland.
Foundation:
In Geography, we will be learning about different plants in the rainforest that produce ingredients to make life-saving medicines.
In PSHE, we will be discussing what makes us special and unique.
In RE, we will be making Christingles and attending the service at St Nicholas Church!
In Science, we will be setting up an experiment to learn about melting.
In PE, we will be doing Gymnastics with Mrs Line and Rugby with the PE coaches.
Homework:
Maths
The Maths homework sheet will be stuck into books and given out on Tuesdays – please could children complete this and hand it in by Friday so teachers can mark, provide feedback and hand back by the following week.
Spelling
Please continue to practise the weekly spelling words at home in whichever way your child finds most useful.

Notices & Reminders:
A reminder to please let the office know if your child is going home with somebody different – we are unable to release the children at home time, if we do not have written consent about changes to collection. This is just to keep all of our children safe 😊 Thank you for your help with this!
We look forward to our Christingle Service next Tuesday. A reminder that all children need to please bring in an orange by Monday 1st December, as we will be making our Christingles on Monday afternoon.
Parent helpers – we will see you at the junior gate at 10.10, ready to walk down to the church. We look forward to seeing other parents and carers at the church, ready for the service too!
Miss Bullock, Mrs Secker and Mrs McKenzie.
