Year 4
Weekly Update - Friday 17th October 2025
Summary of this week:
We made it to the final week and lots of fun has been had! On Wednesday, we really enjoyed our trip down to St Nicholas Church, engaging in a scavenger hunt to find different features of the church. We also had some mindfulness, quiet time within the church to think about what we are thankful for in life. Check out our photos on the school Instagram or Facebook page to see more!
We got messy in art, creating 3D fruit paintings, using colour layering to make our pictures look more realistic! We also designed Mayan masks within our final History lesson, discussing how different families and ranks would wear different items and accessories.
Our learning after half term:
Maths: We will be starting our unit on multiplication, unpicking a range of word problems to solve!
English: We will be starting our new unit on non-chronological reports. We will be learning about rainforests and starting to plan our own texts, by researching about different animals in rainforest habitats.
Reading: We will be starting our author study on Michael Morpurgo, unpicking the opening of his book “Why The Whales Came”.
Foundation:
In Geography: we will be starting our new unit on Rainforests, learning about different types of biomes and exploring the Amazon rainforest.
In Computing: we will be learning about effective teamwork, working collaboratively on the laptops to type and follow instructions.
In Science: we will be learning about how materials can change state.
Homework:
Maths
The Maths homework sheet will be stuck into books and given out on Tuesdays – please could children complete this and hand it in by Friday so teachers can mark, provide feedback and hand back by the following week.
Spelling
Please continue to practise the weekly spelling words at home in whichever way your child finds most useful.
Notices & Reminders:
Thank you to all parents and carers for a brilliant first half term – your support with reading, times tables interventions, school trips and general communication hasn’t gone unnoticed.
