Year 5
Weekly Update - Friday 10th October 2025
Summary of this week:
We are thoroughly excited to welcome you all in for our parents’ evening sessions on Tuesday and Thursday next week. Your children have worked exceptionally hard this term, and we are pleased for you to be able to see all the hard work that they have been completing.
This week, the children have been busily creating their own pop-up books based on fables and fairytales. It has been lovely to see them build, decorate and design these, all whilst having a smile on their face. We will be visiting Year 1 after October half-term for the children to read their lovely creations!

Our learning next week:
Maths: We will be starting a new unit looking at multiplication and division.
English: We will starting a short unit on poetry, learning about the poem: ‘Teacher, Teacher’.
Foundation: In PSHE, we will be continuing our learning about rights and responsibilities as a British citizen. In Computing, we will be starting a new unit on ‘Online Safety’- which we will be coming back to as the year continues. In DT, we will be finishing our pop-up books that we started making this week.
Homework:
As a reminder, homework days are as follows:
Maths Homework- Set on Monday, due on Wednesday.
English Homework- Set on Wednesday, due on Friday.
Spelling Homework- Set on Monday, due on Friday.
We would also please encourage children to be reading and accessing Times Table Rockstars when time allows.

If anyone is interested in coming into read with some of our children, please email the Year 5 email. Please note that a valid DBS is required.
If there is a significant reason why you cannot attend either of our parents’ evening sessions, please contact your child’s teacher to facilitate a meeting at a different time.
