Reception
Weekly Update - Friday 19th December 2025
Summary of this week:
It’s hard to believe we have already reached the end of the children’s first term at school! They have come so far from those nervous little faces we saw in September, building relationships with one another and all the adults, finding their way around the school site and learning new routines and expectations. The children are all now confident and established members of our Eastwick family!
Our last week has provided much fun and excitement for us all, starting with the amazing Christmas Fair, then a special Forest School session with a fire, hot chocolate and marshmallow and the most ENORMOUS bubbles to chase on the field. The glitter and sparkles have been out every day and the children will be bringing home their beautiful Christmas crafts for you to admire.
We would all like to thank you for your wonderful support this term and wish every family a very happy Christmas! See you all in 2026!
Our learning next term:
PSED (Personal, Social, Emotional Development): Challenge and persevering
Art: Exploring with chalk
RE: Celebrating new year
Vocabulary: Visualise, city, brayed Makaton signs: Happy new year!

Homework:
This week we will be sending home the next group of graphemes that we have learnt. Please look over these at home. Our next phonics assessment will be coming round quickly in the new year and by looking at these for a few minutes each day it will really help them to retain all the great progress that they have made.
Notices & Reminders:
Toileting Issues - The HCRG Care Group ( providers of community health care, including school nurses) have advised us of a new Toileting Support pathway for parents of children who are struggling with daytime and nighttime wetting and issues with constipation/soiling/withholding etc. The Toileting Support Webinar is a Surrey wide live webinar that is run by the School Nursing team with an opportunity for questions and answers at the end - the next live webinar is on 6th January at 10:30am.
Please do keep reading to and with your children over the holiday period. There’s nothing like snuggling down by the Christmas tree with a good book!
Our new term starts for the children on Tuesday 6th January as the Monday is an INSET day.
